To counteract this, the installation of expansion joints on the shell is essential to limit the pressure within the shell side, thereby averting potential damage. This design is optimally suited for scenarios where the shell side fluid remains clean and non-scaling, the temperature differential between the two fluids is minimal, or when the shell side pressure is moderate.
