Additionally, when there's a substantial temperature gap (exceeding 50°C) between the shell and the heat exchange tubes, damaging thermal stress can occur.

To counteract potential damage from thermal stress, this heat exchanger incorporates expansion joints within its shell. These joints are pivotal in curbing shell-side pressure to safeguard the unit. This particular design is ideal for scenarios where the shell-side fluid remains pristine and non-scaling, where temperature discrepancies between interacting fluids are minimal, or if significant, the shell-side pressure remains manageable.
